Summer Favorites
One of the best parts about summer is having time to read.  Summer reading is one of my favorite pastimes.  I love getting a book and sitting on my patio to enjoy a story.  This summer I read a lot of picture and chapter books.

Mrs. Merkle and Mrs. Teske challenged students to read all summer.  Students returning a summer reading list will participate in a reading party in September (forms are due by Sept. 4).

We'd like to hear about your favorite summer books.  Please share a summer favorite with your friends.

How to share?
  • Go to our Summer Reading Wall and tell us about your favorite.  OR..
  • Have your parents share your favorite on Twitter using the hashtag #darbycreekreads.

We can't wait to hear about your recommendations.

Hi friends,

I hope you are having a good summer. I hope you are finding time to swim, play with friends and READ books.

I was at the library on Tuseday to see Darby Creek friends. I picked up quite a stack of books. I have several new titles to tell you about so keep stopping by our blog.

I have been wondering what you've been reading. Please leave a comment to tell me about what you have been reading this summer.

Also, remember I am looking for summer book bloggers. If you can help, read the post about how to send me your book recommendation.

This Book is FUNNY!

Last week I was at the Hilliard Library. You know I had to check out the books while I was waiting to see Darby Creek friends.

I found Wolfie the Bunny by Ame Dyckman. As I read it, I couldn't quit laughing.

In this book, Dot is not happy when her parents decide to make a baby wolf part of the family. "He will eat us," she warns her parents, but her parents don't listen to her.

Will her family get eaten by Wolfie? You'll have to read to find out.

It's Summer.  What are You Reading?

I'm looking forward to summer to catch up on my reading.  I have been collecting titles I know I want to read.  There are so many new books out for the summer.   Of course, I also enjoy summer reading because I can read from some of my favorite places.  In the summer I like to read on my patio and at coffee shops.  I keep my books on my Kindle so I can read whenever there is a little extra time no matter where I am.

Tell me about your plans for summer reading?

Peter Reynolds Books

Picture
Peter Reynolds's books are AMAZING!  He sketches his illustrations and uses watercolors for his pictures.

He writes about different characters.  Sometimes one character can be in more than one book.

Peter Reynolds wants us to know you can be creative with your thinking and go farther and dig deeper.  Many of his books are about building, painting, and feelings.  You should read Peter Reynolds' books.  They are awesome!
